PETERCULTER GOLF CLUB JUNIOR POLICIES

 

GENERAL:

 

A Junior Club Member under 12 years of age can play the course or be in the clubhouse under the following conditions: 

  1. Accompanied by an Adult Member who is responsible for them.
  2. Have a current Club or CONGU (Council of National Golf Unions) Handicap.

 

A Junior Club Member must be 12 years old and have a current handicap to allow them to sign on another junior guest.

 

Any junior guest must have a valid handicap certificate from another club and this must be shown to the starter in the professional’s shop prior to teeing off.

   

No junior member can sign on an adult.

 

The junior guest can only be signed on once a month by any junior / adult member.

 

Junior Members are not allowed to book Tee times between 5.00 pm and 6.30 pm during the week (Mon - Fri) and before 3.00 pm on weekends.

 

When making a telephone or in person booking in the Professional Shop (Tel: 01224 734994) you will be asked for your MEMBERSHIP NUMBER - please have this at hand. It can be found on your annual  subscription invoice and on the front cover of your P.G.C. yearly fixture book.

 

JUNIOR COMPETITIONS:

Junior competitions are generally played on Monday evenings throughout the season with the 1st tee being reserved from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Juniors with valid club handicaps can enter these competitions and compete. During the summer school break however, Junior competition tee times are not reserved and Juniors have to book their own times that suit via the Pro Shop. It is important to note that Juniors playing in these medal competitions will be mixed into groups of 3 players, generally where possible drawing 1 older junior with 2 younger juniors.

Check your yearly fixture book for details and dates on all Junior events.

 

ADULT COMPETITIONS FOR JUNIOR BOYS

PGC Open Competitions – Junior boys are eligible to enter PGC Opens and to win a prize, please note the  competition handicap limit of each Open will apply for entry purposes.

PGC Gents Club Championship – Junior boys can compete in the scratch section only if their h,cap is 12 or less on the day of the competition qualifying 1st round.

PGC Gents Medal / Stablefords – Junior boys can play for handicap purposes ONLY provided there are spaces available on the day and if their h,cap is 12 or less on that day, they will be unable to win a prize or enter the sweeper.

PGC Winter League – juniors can enter the competition if there are section spaces left that are not required for adults.

Juniors are allowed to play in the Deeside and Pennant League competitions with no restrictions.

 

ADULT COMPETITIONS FOR JUNIOR GIRLS

The Junior Girl Members are to be treated slightly different due to LGU requirements.  Girls must be allowed to compete in ladies medal competitions and win prizes.  

 

HOW  DO JUNIOR MEMBERS OBTAIN A HANDICAP ??

 

                                   

A Junior Club Member can obtain a current Club Handicap by the following:

                                                       

                                                           

                                                                  

  1. A Junior  can play the main course with an adult club member who will sign the Junior`s scorecard and hand in to the Junior Convener via the Junior Card Box in the Junior Room. Once the Junior Boy has returned 3 cards with scores less then 110 off the Yellow Tees they will be given a CONGU handicap of 28 allowing them to play the main course and enter the club’s Junior Competitions.

 Junior Par Golf: Tee up on Fairway in line with Blue Tee Markers and proceed from there to full course greens. Start from 1st Hole and play onwards to the 6th hole. Juniors then have a short walk from there back to the clubhouse.

Remember to be CAREFUL when crossing over other in play holes when walking in.

Pro's Tip: Remember to keep your head down and your chin up!
